Contextualization....

As an American abroad, I'm constantly finding little ways that I'm America-centered in my view of life. Sometimes these are important discoveries; other times humorous. Here are a couple of pictures from N. Ireland that brought a chuckle. Why are these pictures a problem for those of us too America-minded?

I'm not sure if I get it or not. Is it the apparent use of American Airlines' initials before the rest of the name?

  2. I'm not an American, but a Canadian. I have no idea what is wrong with them, but now you have me curious.

M.A.D.D. wouldn't be too pleased with this driving school.

  4. For the acronym-obsessed, AA could be American Airlines... or my oldest daughter's initials.

But commonly in the U.S. (I assume other places as well??), AA is short for Alcoholics Anonymous, a support group for people battling alcohol abuse.

So... an AA driving school.... Nevermind.... :-)
